The TELUS Pitch is Canada’s largest small business contest that brings together the best minds in Canadian small business. The contest helps accelerate success through the adoption of technology. During Vancouver Startup Week, we’re inviting Vancouver business owners the chance to enter the contest by sharing how winning the grand prize of $100,000 will help them achieve their business goals and take their small business to the next level.

During this happy hour, entrepreneurs will  have the opportunity to enter TELUS Pitch by delivering their best “elevator” pitch to a life-sized travelling elevator. Get your elevator pitch ready!

Remote work is a wonderful thing, but it’s not all sunshine and daisies! We’ll discuss good things and bad things — both expected and unexpected. You’ll hear a tale of a post-acquisition remote team growing from 22 to 77 people in less than 9 months — it involved building a hiring system so intrigueing it was featured within the WallStreet Journal. After that, we’ll eat Tacofino burritos (our treat) and hang out. Perhaps we’ll discuss some remote work strategies and start-up life, or perhaps we’ll just eat burritos.

Venturelabs® is hosting Startup Demo Day to highlight up-and-coming startups across various industries and will showcase technologies from multiple accelerators in the community. Starting at 1 PM on September 29, there will be interactive displays including robotic sensors, Virtual Reality gaming systems, and a velomobile; a reception will be held on the 11th floor of VentureLabs® at 5pm.
